Dental bridges are fixed appliances typically used to replace a gap of missing teeth and restore a full smile. They are supported by two crowns on the teeth on either side of the gap, known as the anchoring or abutment teeth. Artificial teeth are then attached to the bridge, filling in the gap created by one or several missing teeth.
Reasons for Using a Fixed Bridge
There are several reasons you may require a dental bridge, including:
- Maintaining facial shape
- Replacing missing teeth
- Restoring chewing and speaking capabilities
- Keeping remaining teeth in place
- Upgrading from removable dentures to a permanent replacement
- Restoring your smile
